Clean Fuel

Many people wonder what clean fuel means. Essentially, clean fuel is fuel that does not produce C02 or green house emissions.  Many vehicles are beginning to transition into clean fuel propulsion.  Hybrids, EVs, and hydrogen are just some.  As more and more fuels are sought after in hopes of establishing a clear clean fuel alternative, there continues to be a debate on the parameters used to denote an authentic clean fuel.  This debate has affected fuels like biodiesel and ethanol and as more research indicates, they are in fact not clean fuels do to pollutants found in them.

TH!NK: Back From the Brink

From the beginning of the week, it seemed as if TH!NK was finished until yesterday when Stein Erik Hagen, one of the wealthiest men in Norway decided to do what the Norwegian gov’t wouldn’t and pledge more money to keep the Electric Car company going.  His money is contingent on the other investors upping their investments.  Goo work Hagen.  I like TH!NK and I am happy you do as well.

EnerDel and DOE Team Up

EnerDel, one of the leading EV battery producers and the department of energy are teaming up to produce lithium ion batteries for electric trucks. This is a great step forward for the nation as EnerDel is an efficient and noted battery producer and the DOE is an official arm of the US Gov’t.  Let’s hope this continues.

Solar Cars: They’re Coming

For a long time I have been a skeptic about the possibility of a viable mass produced solar car. Then I saw the Venturi Astrolab and then after that the Fiat Phylla. Thee are more, but I have done a 180 and now believe that there will be a time in the near future when solar cars really will be mass produced.

Tango: You’ve Got To Love It

The Worlds Fastest Commuter Car

The World's Fastest Commuter Car

The Tango is essentially an enclosed four wheel motorcycle. Produced by Commuter Cars it has won the accolades of George Clooney. The Tango can maneuver the way a motorcycle can cutting commuting time down in traffic clogged free ways. The Tango is a great idea for those people who can’t stand 2 hour commutes to work when it should only take half an hour.

Future Fuel: Liquid Coal

We have long sought a resource to extricate ourselves from foreign (Saudi) domination.  Traditionally I always felt this would come in the form of solar energy for the power grid and via that we would power our cars through electricity. Yet now with the recent advancement of what is being called liquid coal, my thoughts on the subject are beginning to change.

If research is correct, liquid coal is both very efficient and clean and of course there is plenty of coal out there to support the industry.  Essentially liquid coal is coial that goes through a gasification process to make the liquid end product. All eyes should be on this fuel.  I believe it will have a major imact on our lives.

Flying Cars

Flying Cars are pretty out there.  I personally feel flying cars are little more than a fantasy an that is despite some of the recent prototypes.  Essentially this is distracting from the true value of what future cars can offer and that is an alternative fuel propulsion.

Oil Resource Wars (The Bloody Alternative to Future Cars)

When it comes down to it the government of the US and most of the Western world has decided on fighting bloody resource wars (i.e. Iraq) instead of developing an alternative fuel infrastructure and promoting future cars.  The issue becomes increasingly mind boggling when one considers the sheer money spent in Iraq and lives lost there as opposed to the alternative, which is far cheaper and bloodless.  The Oil Drum has an excellent article about growing resource war reality. Read it here.

Flying Home

A 10 min commute to work, graceful landing, no traffic jams…now what a future.  Imagine a world where we were all like George Jetson.  The future seems to be upon us as more and more companies are tackling the idea of flying cars.  The LaBiche Aerospace FSC-1 is just one of the many roadable air crafts sprouting up.  Better get used to them.
